Hot Baked Cinnamon Apples

My go-to Christmas morning side dish. Can be made ahead.


10 honey crisp apples, cored, peeled and thinly sliced

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons lemon juice

1 dash salt

1 dash freshly grated nutmeg


Preheat oven to 375°F. In a large mixing bowl, gently mix sliced and peeled apples with the rest of the ingredients. Transfer to a non-stick baking dish, cover and bake for 45 minutes, stirring at least once every 15 minutes or until the apples are soft. Uncover and cook for another few minutes to thicken the cinnamon sauce. (For easier clean-up, mix everything in the baking dish rather than a bowl.)
