YOGI OF THE MONTH
April 2017 - Suzie Beer
What first brought you to yoga and how long have you been practicing?
The beauty of the practice and the stillness it brought to my mind. I first practiced in Baltimore years ago, and then off and on again since (more OFF than on). Glad to be ON again!
What is/are your intention(s) for your yoga practice?
My goal is to have legs parallel to the floor in Lotus position! Ha Ha!!
What is your favorite pose and why?
Plank. It really tones the core. I hold plank three times a day at any available time, for one minute each time. At the end of my third plank, I mentally give myself a gold star for the day!
What is your favorite class at InsideOut Yoga?
Breathe & Stretch and Slow Flow. Breathe & Stretch is an hour class that feels like 10 minutes. It feels like you've had a massage. On the other hand, Slow Flow for me is much more strenuous and really challenges my body, so I like to take Slow Flow on Tuesdays and reward my body on Thursdays!
How has the practice of yoga influenced your life?
Yoga improves my posture and agility. I am much more conscious of my movements when lifting heavy objects or reaching for something.
What advice would you have for a beginning yoga student?
Start NOW!!!
What is your occupation?
I sell the LuLaRoe line of clothes. The LuLaRoe "buttery" leggings are perfect for yoga!
What activities do you enjoy?
I love spending time on the beach and in the water. I also love reading, gardening, and just about any activity that involves laughter.
What is your favorite thing about living in the Northern Neck?
Sometimes living in the Northern Neck can be a bit difficult. If I'm working on a project I want to finish and an eagle lands on the dock, or a neighbor shouts "oysters on the grill…" I find myself distracted! Luckily the Northern Neck is full of beauty and wonderful people, so I look forward to being distracted often.
Is there anything you want to add?
Thank you, Susan, for being AWESOME!!
