YOGI OF THE MONTH
December 2020 - Jack Fackler
What first brought you to yoga and how long have you been practicing?
At age 82, I was losing my balance and found that yoga really helped. That was seven years ago, and I’ve been doing regularly ever since.
What is/are your intention(s) for your yoga practice?
To keep working on balance and flexibility.
What is your favorite pose and why?
My two favorite poses are down dog and plank. I feel these are the most stressful, thereby keeping my ancient muscle tone up.
What is your favorite class at InsideOut Yoga?
Slow Flow is my favorite because it challenges me the most.
How has the practice of yoga influenced your life?
It's helped my state of mind and has kept me feeling younger.
What advice would you have for a beginning yoga student?
Do the best you can. Don't worry about how you're doing compared to others in the class. Try to do a little more of each pose as times goes on.
What is your occupation?
Retired Research & Design Engineer and Company President.
What activities do you enjoy?
Boating, sailing, and amateur radio.
What is your favorite thing about living in the Northern Neck or Middle Peninsula?
Access to the lovely Chesapeake Bay.
Is there anything you want to add?
I think more men should try yoga. It’s amazing how much it can improve your health and sense of well-being.
