What first brought you to yoga and how long have you been practicing?

One of my best friends introduced me to yoga in high school. We went to a few classes together. I didn't really pursue yoga for myself until my mid-twenties when I was living in NYC and was looking for a healthy outlet for life stressors.

What is/are your intention(s) for your yoga practice?

My intentions for my yoga practice are usually to be present and grounded in the moment. I tend to overthink, so having a practice that reminds me to be present is extremely helpful.

What is your favorite pose and why?

My favorite pose has to be child's pose. This pose is very therapeutic and helps calm my nerves.

What is your favorite class at InsideOut Yoga?

I thought my favorite class was Vinyasa Flow because I loved the challenge, but lately, I have really enjoyed Yin Yang Flow. I truly dislike being still for intervals of time, so this practice challenges those feelings and thoughts for me.

How has the practice of yoga influenced your life?

Yoga has influenced my life by teaching me self-discipline. I’ve become more in tune with my body and mind, and it allows me to dive deeper into becoming the best version of myself.

What advice would you have for a beginning yoga student?

Keep at it. I've heard from friends that they just can't get into yoga, but if you stick with it and see how transformative it can be, it is all worth the effort.

What is your occupation?

I’m the Spanish teacher at Chesapeake Academy.

What activities do you enjoy?

I enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, and hiking.

What is your favorite thing about living in the Northern Neck or Middle Peninsula?

Small town vibes and access to most activities that I enjoy.

Is there anything you want to add?

I wanted to add that I feel so fortunate to have found such an amazing yoga community. When I first moved here, I wasn't sure I was going to fit into the small-town vibes, but I quickly found this lovely group and could not be happier with my yoga practice.
