YOGI OF THE MONTH
October 2016 - Lydia Sellers
What first brought you to yoga and how long have you been practicing?
For relaxation I practiced hatha yoga about 15 years ago but it wasn't as focused on form. During the past year at InsideOut, I've learned so much about alignment and breathing in the poses.
What is/are your intentions for your yoga practice?
I don't have a set intention. I just pick something at that moment. Sometimes it's just to enjoy the poses.
What is your favorite pose and why?
Trikonasana. It just seems to always feel like I need that one the most.
What is your favorite class at InsideOut Yoga?
I like Power Flow. It is always so very challenging.
How has the practice of yoga influenced your life?
I’m grateful for just being able to practice. Also, I find joy and peace from living in the moment and focusing mental and physical energy.
What advice would you have for a beginning yoga student?
My advice would be to try all the different classes, especially Breathe & Stretch.
What is your occupation?
I’m a cardiovascular sonographer.
What activities do you enjoy?
I love hiking with my friend’s dogs and my horse. Otherwise I might be working in the flower bed or baking.
What is your favorite thing about living in the Northern Neck?
It's beautiful here and we have a great community.
Is there anything you want to add?
Thank you, Susan and Allyson, for being so very knowledgeable and for sharing your skills. Namaste.
