Subtle Shifts

"When the seasons shift, even the subtle beginning, the scent of a promised change, I feel something stir inside me.  Hopefulness?  Gratitude?  Openness?  Whatever it is, it's welcome." ~ Kristin Armstrong

I'm becoming more and more enamored with restorative yoga.  Not only is it an excellent complement to my more rigorous vinyasa practice, it really tunes me into the subtle shifts that take place within the stillness of the poses.  Noticing the shifts that occur on our mats and how we respond to them prepares us for some of the bigger changes life throws our way.

Change is the hallmark of June.  School ends, weddings and graduations happen, there are changes in weather, in traffic, in the number of people in town...  It's a great time to reset, to reconsider priorities and to focus on subtleties in order to shift our lives in a direction that matters.  As Armstrong notes, sometimes all it takes is a subtle shift in perspective, an opening of the mind, an intentional pause and reset, or a new route to start to see new options and new possibilities.

As we all know, the only thing constant is change.  In what ways will you welcome it this season both on and off your mat?
