All Day
“The quickest way to experiencing the peace inside, is to learn to recognize when I am not at peace.” ― Jim McDonald
Before I teach any class, I sit for a few moments to center myself. Doing so quiets my mind and helps me prepare.
A few days before I left for my Yoga Retreat in Spain, I sat down to center before Slow Flow. But my mind wasn’t having it. It frantically raced back and forth to all the things I still needed to do for the retreat and all the things I had left undone. As I tried to force myself to become present, I thought of the above meme. I even said it out loud, which wound up making me laugh. But then a thought occurred to me:
I actually do have all day. That’s ALL I have. Every single day.
This realization helped me connect to center and become present to the task at hand, which was creating a sequence for my students, who also have minds that could probably use some centering. I gave myself grace, took a few deeper breaths and did the best I could to create a thoughtful sequence.
The next time you’re feeling less than peaceful, give yourself some grace too. After all, you’ve got all day.
