Susan Upavista Konasana.jpg

Owner/instructor at InsideOut Yoga since 2010 and Chairman of the Kekoka Yoga Retreat since 2009, Susan "has gained a reputation not only for teaching yoga to people of all ages, but for giving people the tools to change their lives" (Local Scoop Magazine).

A student of yoga since 1999, Susan completed a 200 hr teacher training program in 2008 at Yoga Source in Richmond, VA, under the directorship of Ashtanga and Iyengar instructors, Jennifer Elliot and Sandra Pleasants. This training reinforced her love of creative movement, precise alignment and spiritual exploration. Although she has studied with many amazing instructors such as Annie Carpenter, David SwensonEoin Finn, Jason CrandellGreg Nardi and David Keil, her principle sources of instruction are her personal practice and what she learns daily from her students.

Described most acutely by a close friend as being “an individual,” Allyson is a creative spirit, an artist, adventurer, yoga teacher and lover of life! She has been building her personal yoga practice since 2005 after taking her first yoga class in the community basketball court at the local high school. Her downward dogs have taken her to Thailand, Kuwait, California and most recently to India, where she spent five months completing her yoga teacher 500 RYT training in recognition with Yoga Alliance. While in India, Allyson trained in Ashtanga and Hatha styles of yoga, led workshops on yoga nidra and creativity + yoga, offered sunrise and sunset yoga classes to her fellow teacher trainees, indulged in chapatis (an Indian cuisine staple), and drank more than her fair share of mint tea. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art with a focus in Ceramics / Installation Art. Her passion is in the practice of being mindful both on and off the mat and loves to see how yoga is truly the practice for life.
