You Can't Fail

I happened upon this question the day I needed to re-record some background vocals for my band’s new CD. I’m not the most confident singer and if you’ve ever done any studio recording, you know that every tiny flaw is magnified to the nth degree. It wasn’t my first re-recording (hence the re…), and normally I go through the recording process cringing at the prospect of failure. But after reading the quote that morning, I approached the entire day differently. I said “I can’t fail” to myself before my yoga practice, before I taught my classes and applied it to everything else I did, culminating with the recording. What a difference a shift in attitude can make! It was a combination of so many things I attempt to practice (many of which are an integral part of yoga): positivity, nonattachment, love-based rather than fear-based thinking, intention, nonjudgment… I may not be headed for Broadway but I did nail the vocals that night.

So now to you: What would you attempt to do if you knew you couldn’t fail? Try it this month and let me know how it works!
